“REGARO” was born as a club for adults.
When I came to this place for the first time, I thought it was far from a comfortable space.
The light didn’t enter enough, because a ceiling was low. I felt more narrowly than it actually was. When I just entered art college, I learned about the light in European house space in class. For example, not using the lighting equipment on a ceiling (a down light), the difference of the way of feeling the lighting.... Some decades have passed, I enjoyed a meal and liquor abroad again and again. There are many famous restaurants, you don’t check the color and luster of cuisine and wine, because it is dark. However, in Japan a dish must seem to be delicious beautifully. It is considered to be a theory to draw also the behavior of the person beautifully. I tried to make space without the down light again and again, but it hadn’t come true. “REGARO” was able to constitute space without using the down light, thanks to owner’s understanding. Instead of using the down light, I took advantage of indirectly lighting. It is a trial to sublimate the demerit, the low of the ceiling, into the merit by giving value and an expanse as a subject of the light.
